Find files from a CSV list · Windows

You bring the clues. It sniffs out the files.

Prepare a CSV list and let The Truffle Pig sniff through your file names, like a truffle pig in the woods. It gathers every match and copies them to the folder you choose.

Less manual searching

From list to folder. No detours.

When you have lots of files to track down, doing it one by one is a waste of time. Give it a list of clues and let it do the work.

01

Search by names or fragments

Put full names or parts of names in a CSV. The app looks for those strings in file names.

02

Gathers the matches

It finds matching files across the folder tree you point to and copies them to the destination you choose.

03

Renames as it gathers

With the full license, you can set the new name for each copied file right in the CSV.

What is it for?

A pile of files. Two good examples.

Recover scattered documents

You have a list of invoices, contracts or case files spread across many folders. Prepare the CSV and gather the matches in one place.

Prepare a delivery or project

Start from a list of files you need to collect. Copy them into a delivery folder and, with the full license, give them new names from the CSV.

What it does

Copy files from a CSV list, hassle-free

01

Copies, doesn’t move

Originals stay where they were. The Pig only makes copies in the destination folder.

02

Results report

When it finishes, it tells you what it found, what it copied and which names on your list turned up nowhere.

03

Digs through subfolders

It walks the whole folder structure you point to, however deeply nested.

04

Handles thousands of rows

A CSV with 50 names or 5,000: the search works the same, only the time changes.

05

A no-mystery CSV

One column with the names to look for. No formulas, no macros, no special template. If your list is in Excel, save it as CSV.

06

No subscription

Pay once and the license is yours, permanently. No monthly fees, no renewals.

Three steps

How the pig works.

1

Prepare your CSV

One row for each name or fragment you want to find.

2

Choose where to look

Pick the source folder and the destination where you want the files gathered.

3

Start the search

The Truffle Pig finds the matches and copies the files it found.

A divine clarification

The Pig doesn’t do miracles.

It doesn’t read the contents of your documents, guess which files you need or tidy your folders by magic. It looks for names and fragments in the locations you give it and copies the matches.

It doesn’t rename anything on its own either: with the full license, you can tell it in the CSV what the copies should be called.

If you need to search inside texts, automatic sorting, or something to organize your whole disk, you’ll need another tool. Here the miracle is saving time by searching by name.
Good to know

It searches names. Not contents.

The Truffle Pig compares the text in your CSV with file names. It doesn’t open documents or look for words inside them.

Searches accept fragments: if you look for invoice_24, it can also find invoice_240.pdf. That way you can locate matches even without the full name.

invoice_24invoice_24.pdf
invoice_24invoice_240.pdf

Frequently asked questions

Before you download

Does it need an internet connection?

Not to search or copy: everything happens on your computer and your files never leave it. A connection is only needed to activate the trial or the license; after that, verification works offline.

What happens when the 14 days end?

You can keep using the free version with no time limit, with up to 30 files per search and no renaming. The full license removes those limits.

Does it move my files or copy them?

It copies them. The originals stay where they were.

Does it search inside documents?

No. It compares the text in your CSV with file names, not with their contents.

Can I use an Excel sheet?

Yes, by saving it as CSV (in Excel: Save As → CSV). One column with the names to look for is enough.

How much is the full license?

€25, one-time payment, permanent license. Purchase isn’t available yet; we’ll announce it here when it is.

Is there a macOS version?

For now only the Windows version exists, and it will stay that way for a while.

Does Windows show a warning when installing?

It may: the installer isn’t digitally signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen can ask for confirmation. If so, click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.

Got the list? It’s got the nose.
